According to the article The One-for-one Business Model: Avoiding Unintended Consequences , one-to-one business model is a popular marketing strategy that many companies like Toms shoes, Warby Parker, Roma Boots, and Nouri Bar, etc. used to increase their sales while helping people in need. For every pair of shoes that Toms shoes sold, they would give away a free pair of shoes to those poor people.

Personally, i agree with and support one-to-one business model because it’s a way of helping people and society. Although the goal of the company is to maximize profits, they are still helping people who are in need. The company gains reputation by donations. This will not only benefit the company, but also benefit those unfortunates, and even the whole society. Customers’ satisfaction increases because they not only get what they like, but also contribute to the society, they find one more reason to buy the shoes. This is also helpful with improving awareness of social responsibility.

Although many people hold an opposite perspective due to the fact that “poor people aren’t poor because they lack stuff; they’re poor because they lack the infrastructure to create wealth” —–Michael Matheson Miller, they did help the poor while increasing the sales.
