Cartography is the art of making maps, and there are many things to consider as a cartographer when creating and designing a map, such as color and fonts, map projections, scale, units, layout, etc. It is important to first understand the basics of map making before constructing maps, as maps are very powerful tools for the dissemination of information and data. Without understand the ethics behind cartography and the potential implications it might incur, it may lead to a inaccurate representation of the data. I am equipped with the basic knowledge of cartography and the ethics behind map making through my undergraduate career at the University of British Columbia. I hope to bring forward the skills that i have acquired into my future projects and careers.
