Just now, i have read about Clarence’s post about buying gum early in the morning. The market of chewing gums is really a competitive market with so many different brands. Therefore in order to succeed in this market, those brands not only need to work on the taste of their but also work on the packaging.
To me, i don’t have a preference to the taste of the gum. Therefore, i buy gums mainly depend on their packaging, and where they are located on the shelf.
Fancy and outstanding package will definitely help here, but the convenience of the package is also an important issue. When looking at whole shelf of gum, the most outstanding package will attract most attention from customer. Other than that, whenever i buy gums, i will consider about if the package of gum can fit into my pocket and not making too much noise while i am waking. i believe this is another important factor that many consumers care.
In a supermarket, i believe most people do not go to the shelf that says “gum” and choose the gum from there. Most people got their gum on the shelves near the checkout counter. Therefore, whichever brand that can be placed near the checkout definitely has its advantage.
