As a continuation of my Steveston reflection, I decided to do my policy brief on the Indigenous commercial Spawn-on-Kelp (SOK) fishery. Contrary to my prior statement, I was surprised to find that the commercial SOK fishery had already been shut down in this fishing season, despite the gillnet and seine herring roe fisheries remaining open.
