The process of creating the web folio allowed me to look back on each assignment and project completed for this course and reflect on what was learned. Often when an assignment is completed and handed in for any given class, it is rare that I will go back and review it once the term is over. Taking a look back on the term’s assignments and editing them is an excellent way to practice learned skills and techniques. As well, there were several skills that I had learned near the end of term that could be applied to earlier assignments.
Reviewing and editing work demonstrates the importance of feedback. Referencing the instructor’s feedback from evaluation sheets, posts on the instructor’s blog, as well as the peer reviews gives me an array of tools to use when editing work. Despite reviewing the assignment instructions, sometimes things are missed in the first few drafts. Quality work requires many rounds of revision and benefits from more than one set of eyes.
The designing of the web folio was something I particularly enjoyed, given my background in graphic design. Choosing a visually appealing theme that displayed my work in a clear and organized fashion was important, as aesthetics are often overlooked in professional and business contexts. A unique and well-designed body of work will better catch a reader’s attention.
Overall, I was able to bring all of my learnings together in one final assignment.
