First nation in Canada refers to the people who lived in Canada originally. There are almost six geograph areas in which first nation lives. All of them have the similar culture. However, their relationship with BC government have been very strained for a long period of time. As far as I know, the transaction between white settlers and indigenous people is always not with free and informed consent. In 1864, aboriginal people wanted to bulid a road toward a goldfield but they were stopped by the government and even killed by them. Nevertheless, the government always used first nation’s places for building logging roads, constructing and operating a dam, which, to some extent, exerted a negative influence on their environment. Although aboriginal people try their best to defend on their rights, it still exsits conflicts between first nation and the government. Nowadays, with the development of the society, Canadian are kind of changing their mind and try different ways to be with first nation in harmony. Recently, B.C. premier urges the cooperation with first nation in order to improve their relationship. I think it is the correct way for the government to treat first nation because the resource is limited and the development needs cooperation and harmony. Therefore, the government demand to carry out useful laws to help first nation.
