A Constructivist PD Day for Online Teachers

This site was created for UBC’s MET 530 course, Constructivist Strategies for E-Learning. These pages present a professional development day I had designed and delivered for the online teachers in my K12 school division during the 2011 – 2012 school year. In retrospect, I felt that the day was very reflective of constructivist principals, so have chosen to present it here.

The site consists of the following sections and pages:

  • Home – This page.
  • The PD Session – This section contains multiple pages, beginning with a brief overview of the online learning program in my school division, and why the day was set up as it was.  The actual instructions that were given to the teachers are included, and well as the unfinished products they created.  Teachers were asked to reflect on their experiences at the end of the PD session; these reflections are also provided.
  • Personal Reflections – My own reflections on how the PD session went. Did we accomplish what we had set out to do? What constructivist principles do I feel were explored during the day?
  • Evaluation Criteria – The constructivist criteria which may be used to judge the “constructiveness” of this PD workshop.

Comments most definitely welcome.
