I enjoy teaching at all levels and in a number of fields, but especially in Renaissance poetry. My teaching style is conservative: I prefer to lecture, although I’m always happy to hear what students have to say; I keep the use of the computer to an absolute minimum; and I never assign group work, as I resented it deeply when I was a student.
In the 2025-26 academic year I’ll teach ENGL 110 (Approaches to Literature and Culture) and ENGL 350 (Milton) in Term One. In Term Two I’ll teach ENGL 347 (Renaissance Studies) and a graduate course, ENGL 506A (Studies in Poetry).
