I enjoy teaching at all levels and in a number of fields, but especially in Renaissance poetry. My teaching style is conservative: I prefer to lecture, although I’m always happy to hear what students have to say; I keep the use of the computer to an absolute minimum; and I never assign group work, as I resented it deeply when I was a student.

In the 2025-26 academic year I’ll teach ENGL 110 (Approaches to Literature and Culture) and ENGL 225 (Poetry) in Term One. In Term Two I’ll teach ENGL 350 (Miilton) and ENGL 491C, an honours seminar on sonnets.
