Period 7: IMPORTANT DATES

Your final period (P7) in the Full-time MBA Program is fast approaching next Monday! We are aware that many of you are anxious to make arrangements (MBA Gala, Snowcase, flights home, etc.) so below, we have outlined a few important reminders and what your schedule looks like in the next 2 months.

P7 Classes
Monday, Oct 27 – Friday, Nov 28

(Remembrance Day – Tuesday, Nov 11 – No classes scheduled on this day)

BCC Highly Recommended Activity – Negotiation Mania
Friday, Nov 14, 8:30-5:00pm (Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel)
As you move forward towards your MBA career, knowing how to close on a job opportunity and effectively and appropriately negotiate the compensation package are key skills. 54% of the 2014 class reported negotiating with 75% reporting success and an average salary increase of 9% and median of 7%.

  • AM Session: Barry Howard, Senior Career Consultant from TOOMBS Inc., will speak to the ins and outs of effective salary negotiation, including role play time.
  • Lunch will be provided
  • Afternoon: We will be joined by volunteers from the business community – recruiters from recruiting agencies, hiring managers and HR directors. You will be assigned a time slot and have the opportunity to practice two different types of scenarios (pitch and negotiation) with our volunteers.

Exam Week
Monday, Dec 1 – Saturday, Dec 6 
Reminder: All exams must be sat at the time stated in the exam schedule. Exams may not be re-arranged to accommodate students’ travel plans, interview meetings, conferences etc.

Capstone
Day 1 – Monday, Dec 8 (8:00 – 5:00pm)

Day 2 – Tuesday, Dec 9 (8:00 – 5:00pm)*
Day 3 – Wednesday, Dec 10 (12:00 – 5:00pm)

Capstone is the second component of BA 508 (2 credits) in conjunction with Business in Society. Attendance and full participation is required every day. Teams will be announced in advance and you are expected to reserve the entire day of Dec 8th, 9th and 10th for Capstone.

*On December 9th, students will be expected to work in their teams until late in the evening on a business challenge which you will present on the following day on December 10th.

Capstone Celebration
Wednesday, Dec 10, 5:00-7:00pm (HA)
The MBA Capstone is a celebratory event meant to recognize your achievements and to welcome you as new members of Sauder’s vibrant alumni community. A chance to celebrate, say farewell and acknowledge your accomplishments as you embark on a new journey. Please join us for a champagne reception with faculty, alumni and staff, where we will raise a glass to Sauder’s MBA class of 2014.
