Welcome
Hello! Welcome to our blog, we are Group 11. We are students from UBC in LFS 350, and this semester we will be involved in a Community Kitchen Project in Vancouver, BC. Specifically, our group has been asked to assess community kitchen sites in a group of neighbourhoods: Riley Park, Marpole, Sunset, and Oakridge. We are collaborating with the Food Strategy Implementation Team, which is a subdivision of the City of Vancouver Social Policy Department. We have been asked to assess the availability and use of kitchens for community food programming in Vancouver in order to promote sustainable food system development. We will be using an Asset-Based Community Development approach to facilitate change by empowering the community to tap into their own knowledge and skill resources. We are really looking forward to learning more about our community partners and viewing their facilities!
