Graduate Student Card (UBC Card)

The multi-functional UBCcard provides students with official campus identification, allows library loans, access to services, and access to restricted spaces.

You must be registered in courses before you can be issued a UBC card. Registration will be completed for you by the Robert H. Lee Graduate School by late June.

Even if you have attended UBC before, you should obtain a new card that shows that you are a graduate student. These cards are encoded to allow you access to the graduate breakout rooms and other graduate student areas at the Sauder School of Business.

There are two (2) steps involved in obtaining your activated card:

Step 1:

Obtain your UBCcard

You can either apply online or in person.

  • New Students: Please be prepared to provide your student number and one piece of government-issued photo identification for identity verification (passport, driver's license, or BC Identification Card). To pick up your card, go to the UBC Carding Office located at the UBC Bookstore (6200 University Boulevard).
  • If you have an expired/existing UBCcard: Please bring your old card (UBCcards are re-issued at no cost within 2 months of the expiration date printed on the back of the card) to the UBC Carding Office located at the UBC Bookstore (6200 University Boulevard). To obtain your graduate card, identify yourself as a Sauder graduate student.

Step 2:

Automatic access

(this step will give you swipe-card access to relevant Sauder spaces)

Once you have obtained your UBCcard and are registered in the MBAN courses, you will automatically receive access to the RHL Graduate School wing and your MBAN/MM student lounge (HA 341).

Please allow 24 hours for your card to be activated. If you have any questions please contact the Office Administration desk at 604-822-1386 or access@sauder.ubc.ca.

Lost/Stolen UBCcard

Lost or stolen UBCcards must be reported immediately. UBC departments (including the Bookstore, Library, Food Services, Housing, Athletics and others) assume no responsibility for fraudulent use of your UBCcard before the Lost or Stolen Card Notification Form is submitted and processed by the UBC Carding Office.

Ropes Course

As part of a Sauder Graduate Program tradition, we’ll be participating in the Pacific Adventure Learning Ropes Course during Program Opening.

Hopefully this sounds exciting to you but if it makes you nervous, don’t be. This activity is “challenge by choice”- do what you feel comfortable doing. Heights not your favourite thing? Have some limitations? Not to worry, there is plenty for you to do without sitting on tree branches. All levels of ability can join in, it’s all about team-building, not who can do the most. If you still have concerns, contact us and we’d be happy to discuss. To find a map of where the Ropes Course will take place, please click here.

You will need to fill in the two forms below and bring them to the first day of Program Opening on August 26th.
