“Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.” – Bill Gates
Over my academic career, I have learned many things, perhaps the most important being that there is always a lesson in failure. This is my mantra, how I approach life, and how I achieved success in my academic career. Currently, I aim to graduate with a Bachelor of Science and a major in Biology for the 2018/2019 school year from the University of British Columbia. I am looking to later pursue a Medical Doctorate, thus I view academics as a life-long commitment to excellence. I encourage anyone who may read this to follow your own passion. Yes, it is such an overused expression, but there is power in its saying. Imagine passion as the fuel for your discipline, regiment, and effort. Will power alone cannot overcome true inherent interest. Upon your pursuit of your true calling you will face many challenges, and it will be your passion that pushes you beyond them. However, it will be your adherence to insight that allows you to learn from your mistakes – and better yet, grow from them. Do not fear failure, embrace it as an old friend.
