(Human Resources)

Human resources is the word which always shows up in the business life, and it also is an essential part of a company’s operation. By following this, human resources is able to be identified as all staffs in the company put efforts together in order to operate and organize the company to perform better. However, I learned a lot about this idea during the lecture 18, this way, it encourages me to read explore more knowledge about human resources.

Human Resources Management(HRM) and Human Resource Development(HRD) are two different concepts which confused me at the start. After I did the research on both HRM and HRD, I recognized the difference among those two terms. HRM is the system which “concerned with managing people at work so that they can give best results to the organisation” (Difference Between HRM and HRD), and HRD “refers to the development of people working in an organisation” (Difference Between HRM and HRD). To simplify, HRM always deals with the human resources while HRD is improving the development of all employees from the company. Hence, two of those concepts are going to manage the company through a positive way.

Moreover, human resources as an organizational function, people cannot deny that it plays such a significant role in business. To be more specific, human resources covers “supervision, leadership, management, and performance management” (What is a Human Resource). From my personal perspective, due to human resource is important to a company, therefore, each company must have high expectations on their employees who are part of human resources. Hence, for the purpose of hiring more high-quality worker in human resources department, I believe that every company might establish their specific education requirement. Besides, I suggest the company to have a few weeks of training for their new employees, and they could find more methods to motivate their workers. According to the video from class 18, Zappos is an excellent example in this case. To illustrate, one of policies from Zappos company is able to be taken. Zappos company will frequently hold competitions for fun, which reduces the stress from such a great amount of work. Meanwhile, it not only builds a communicate bridge among each employee, but it also improves their creativities as well.

Overall, human resources keeps a company’s distinctive value, and a good human resource department is also able to increasing the reputation of the company itself. As far as I am concerned, every company has to pay more attention on their human resources department due to it will help the company perform better and also make some important decisions at the meantime.
