Twitter, Tweeter, Tweet Tweet.

Welcome to the 21st century, where every trendy and tech-savvy individual has a Twitter account created and tweets about their daily happenings to their dear followers. Twitter, probably the most used buzzed word in the modern commercial arena, has evolved into one of the most interactive and convenient marketing tools for businesses of all sizes. As a Twitter-addict myself, I cannot emphasize how effective this social media community is for individuals to find out more about their favourite brands, but more importantly, for firms to get more RELEVANT exposure.

Twitter is relatively simple. You create an account and start posting updates consisting of whatever content you like. But then it starts to get complicated. As a business, what kind of things should you say? From an avid Twitter user and enthusiastic consumer and shopper, my advice to you is to make it more personal than commercial. It’s okay to tweet with the intention of actually selling a product (ie. attaching a link that leads to the online store), but it’s not something you should do all the time. In my opinion, the best business accounts are the ones that follow me back, mention me (to reply my tweet), retweet me when I post something relevant to their firm, and post more ‘personal’ tweets. By ‘personal’, I mean making it so that you’re creating a voice behind the brand, and at the same time, building valuable connections with your target consumers (who will naturally follow you). Twitter allows a firm to diversely manage customer relationships with each individual consumer, which is vital for retaining profitable consumers and ensuring the growth of the target segment.

So if you’ve got a business, why not give Twitter a try? You’ll be surprised by the limits you’ll reach with this blue bird.

Love the post: factual, straight-forward but with a nice warm voice!

It’s amazing really how businesses can expand and connect with customers via social media. I, myself, have never signed up for a twitter account. BUT! I just might after reading your post 🙂

….I have a feeling this is something that would distract me like crazy though.
