what went right/wrong(week 7)

November 3rd, 2012 by amberzhang

Basically, nothing went wrong this week, really good luck.

Because of the hurrican and earthquake, i didn’t enter market untill wensday. i found the prices were up like $10 plus on both corn and soybean. Hence, i went short on soybean for 3 contracts and corn for 2 contracs. However, on the rest of the wensday, price of these two commodities keep on rising, then i got 2 more short contract on soybean on the next morning. And close the contracts on friday.

Price keep on downward sliding on friday. closed them and get some money.

    Hi Amber!

    Good job, once more!
    I appreciated reading your strategy.
Even tough the prices were increasing, you kept your positions. You are a brave one!!! Maybe that is the key to success. Risk takers seem to touch bigger gains at this game…

I also appreciate your patience. You waited for Sandy to pass before acting. Things are already moving really quickly in the futures market, and such extreme and “sudden” conditions can certainly amplify the price movement. It seems like it was a good move to only have taken positions on Wednesday.

Indeed, you were lucky on Friday, as the prices for the two commodities that you were trading with short positions both decreased due to a 0.66% increase of the US$ on the International Exchange. (Just like what we were studying for 502!)

Keep you good work! I will try to learn from you and Lisa, and be more brave!! 🙂 ..
