Our Mission
Our two-fold mission is for this toolkit to provide resources and supports for writing instructors or anyone interested in the anti-racist teaching of writing to ensure diverse student belonging in the post-secondary context. To achieve this mission we aim to decolonize how teaching, learning, writing, and knowing is understood to be done at university. The toolkit will provide resources to foster instructor mindsets as well as teaching and learning conditions that value a diversity of experiences, identities, and ways of knowing and, in so doing, empower students with the value of their own contributions to academic writing and communication.
This toolkit is designed to foster conversation and the sharing of resources. We invite you to provide feedback and questions and to share your own experiences and resources at the bottom of each section or through email.
