There are several intergovernmental conventions and multi-lateral agreements that relate to forests, however, at different levels. There are also several intergovernmental organizations that have forests and forestry as part of their activities. This Module addressed three of the most relevant inter-governmental conventions namely the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD). Then, some major international organizations which have forests as part their interest and/or mandates are presented in terms of affiliation, programs, and modus operandi.
