Through singing, dancing and editing the audio, I learned that why there are more K-pop groups than solo artists, and I also have a deeper understanding about the vast amount of work which people spend on making music videos.
First of all, there are more groups than solo artists because the different advantages of each member can make the group better, and people can easily find a particular member that they like in a group. During performing with my group-mates, I figured out that some people are good at singing while others are good at dancing. By making a group, we can all show different advantages together and share different tasks to improve our performance and offer a better expressiveness. When the audiences are watching a better quality performance, their eyes will be easier to catch, and they will be easily attached by a particular member who has the same advantage that they expect. Thus, making a group gains more possibility to become successful.
Furthermore, although the music video is short, it still takes a considerable amount of work to complete all the tasks. When editing the music, I took a long time to put every group-members’ voice into the right beat and arranging the tuning for each recording. When learning the dance, I spent several nights repeatedly practice to remember all the movements. It takes much energy for editing the music and dancing, let alone producers also have to focus on the originality of the music, and choreographers, lighting engineers, prop masters and artists all need to prepare a lot for filming and performing.
In closing, I learned about the reasons that K-pop artists are always in a group, and I also understand the effort which needs to be paid for making a music video.
