The Difference in Values

Posted by in Uncategorized

Amidst the chaos currently happening the United States, Kevin O’Leary, a businessman and a reality show star, has announced that he would be contending for the Conservative leadership. O’Leary criticizes Trudeau for his “gross economic mismanagement”, referencing Trudeau’s budget and his implementation of the Carbon Tax. He further comments on Trudeau’s inability to negotiate a good deal for Canadians against, the newly elected president, Donald Trump. Then lastly, O’Leary states that Canadians are looking for a prime minister that is supportive of small businesses and who is focused on creating jobs for Canadians. It is evident that O’Leary concerns revolve around Canada’s economic status.

However, Trudeau has different values and beliefs then O’Leary and Trudeau’s decisions reflect that. Under his leadership, Canada has been stepping up their efforts to take in more refugees. Furthermore, Trudeau is an open feminist and he was also the first Prime Minister to take part in a Gay Pride Parade. Additionally, Trudeau introduced a Carbon Tax for its purpose to combat Climate Change, even though it will make Canada less competitive in world market. And lastly, Liberals are currently in the process of legalizing weed for Canadians.

It is evident that, Trudeau has taken several progressive measures in order to strengthen Canada’s reputation as a world leader. While O’Leary is more focused on the economic structure of Canada and the economic well being of small businesses, investors and Canadians.

Just like the difference in values between our Prime Minister and Kevin O’Leary, Canadians will also have different values and beliefs. Some Canadians may be satisfied with Trudeau’s progressive measures, while some Canadians may be concerned more about Canada’s economic well being. It is all subjective to the individual.
