Framing the Conversation

Beyond Language is a blog dedicated to exploring influential modern and post-modern literary texts associated with Romance Studies. Rather than assuming a fixed or territorial “Romance World,” this blog approaches the field as deterritorialised and defined by divergence, hybridity, and linguistic variation. It traces connections and differences to show how meaning, representation, and cultural distinctiveness emerge beyond nations or established frameworks. Ultimately, this exploration demonstrates that Romance Studies is not anchored in language alone, but in the restless movement of texts, ideas, and forms that continually exceed borders, traditions, and origins.
