Comprehensive Multimedia Inventory

Including a wide range of multimedia formats is an essential component of an effective online learning environment. The challenge is to select the media type that most effectively presents the learning material in order to achieve intended learning outcomes. Some media formats are more effective for some tasks than others.

There are many options available to course designers when choosing media for their LMS. The decision as to which media should be included is equally as important as the activities themselves. Choosing a thoughtful selection of multimedia can increase focus, increase engagement, and contribute to more meaningful learning. Multimedia, when used effectively, can add to the learning experience. If not used properly, it can just as easily create an unwanted distraction.
