UBC – PCV Workshop Series: DABC Workshop April 24th

PCV Workshop Series: DABC Patient and Community Voices on 24th April 2025 from 6pm to 8pm.
 
This valuable opportunity offers students the chance to explore the healthcare challenges and barriers experienced by individuals with disabilities, while gaining a deeper understanding of the communication techniques used by healthcare practitioners. The workshop will be led by facilitators who have firsthand experience of living with disabilities, providing important perspectives on the challenges faced by affected individuals. 
 

Call for Applications for the NUS Award in Nursing Leadership – Due April 27, 2025 at 11:59pm

Dear Year 4 BSN Students,

Call for applications for the Nursing Undergraduate Society Award in Nursing Leadership.

Awards have been made available annually through a gift from the Nursing Undergraduate Society for students graduating from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program who demonstrate leadership, personal initiative and service to the UBC nursing student community, through active participation in extracurricular activities. Ordinarily, each award will be valued at no less than $400. The awards are made on the recommendation of the School of Nursing.

GSNA Symposium- Friday April 11th

The Graduate Student in Nursing Association (GSNA)
at UBC is hosting a School of Nursing (SoN) Research Symposium event on May 8th from 10:30pm to 4:00pm! This free event is an opportunity to showcase your hard work, and enjoy networking, a free lunch, and refreshments! Submitting a presentation to this event will be a great addition to your CV. The theme for this year’s symposium is “The Power of Collaboration: Advancing Together.” The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, April 11th.

The research symposium is held the same day as the UBC Nursing Gala for those planning on attending that event. Prizes will be handed out for the top presentations! The tentative schedule of the research symposium is below:

10:30am – Symposium Start (coffee & network)

11:00am – Land Acknowledgement & Keynote Speaker

11:45am – Poster Session

12:15pm – Lunch

1:00pm – Oral Presentations

2:30pm – Networking Break

2:45pm – World Café (networking event)

3:45pm – Awards & Closing Remarks

*Please note there are a limited number of spots available for oral presentations.

Volunteer Opportunity Posting

Dr. Saima Hirani is looking for a Volunteer for the following Job Description:

A highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student is required to participate in conducting scoping and systematic reviews. The purpose of these reviews is to synthesize existing evidence related to racialized women’s mental health and well-being in Canada. The student volunteer will be assigned to undertake the screening, data extraction, and analysis of studies included in the review. This voluntary position will offer a great opportunity to the students to learn the process and hands on skills of conducting rigorous scientific reviews, get experience of working with a dynamic team of researcher, and carry out other activities related to the research and its dissemination.
