MHRC-Mitacs Annual 2026 Indigenous Mental Health Studentship – Applications Due: Nov. 25, 2025

In recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day, the MHRC are proud to co-fund the fifth annual Indigenous Studentship in partnership with Mitacs, the Indigenous Women’s Fund of Canada (IWFC) and Empire Life, who joins this year as a new partner. This $15,000 funding opportunity is designed to empower and support Indigenous early-career researchers undertaking impactful community mental health projects.

For this studentship, they are seeking passionate researchers who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident self-identifying as First Nations, Inuit or Métis
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate, masters, college or PhD program at an accredited Canadian university or college, with a background in psychology or related field/discipline.
  • Seeking to conduct a research project within the theme of Indigenous mental health.
