Letter of good standing request process

Dear Term 3 students,

As we move forward towards the end of Term 3, I wanted to let you know some details about the Employed Student Nurses (ESN) and BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry (HCA) process.

If you plan to work as an ESN or HCA after Term 3 completion, you will need confirmation of enrollment and good standing status from the School of Nursing to complete your application.

Good Standing will be determined once all grades have been submitted by Term 3 course leaders. Your confirmation of enrollment and good standing will be emailed to you between approx. August 3rd – 5th, 2022.

Please review the UBC School of Nursing ESN/HCA Policy to determine your eligibility. Clinical instructor reference letters are not proof of your Good Standing and Health Authorities will not accept Reference Letters.

To request your confirmation of enrollment and good standing, please complete the following Canvas quiz [Quiz Link] by July 27, 2022 (11:59pm).

Sincerely,

Elsie Tan MSN RN

Professor of Teaching | Associate Director Undergraduate Program

BCCNM 10.1 Form and Letters of Good Standing Process for ESN

We have received several enquiries regarding Letters of Good Standing process.

Firstly, we highly recommend that BSN students review the ESN/HCA Policy linked here.

Secondly, we will provide you with a letter at the end of Term 3 indicating you are in ‘Good Standing’ in the Program. Detailed information about the process and directions for requesting a letter will be emailed to students in July, and letters will not be issued until the first week of August.

Please note, that all our Health Authority practice partners are well aware of our UBC letter of Good standing process, so although they may have listed a general deadline for letters of good standing, UBC BSN program does not issue these letters until the end of Term 3.

With that said, please bear with us and if you so desire, you may reference our policy to the recruitment representative at the site you are applying for.

Students must complete the BCCNM ESN Form 10.1 and submit to it to the Student Services Office at Grace.tan@ubc.ca to have the school complete Part B.
