Introduction

This blog looks at how teachers can help build resilience in anxious children. Anxiety is the most prevalent mental health concern throughout life (Anxiety and Depression Association of America). Promoting resilience in children will allow them to go through life facing trials and tribulations and remain well. Teachers play an important part in student’s social and emotional well being. There are many different programs available for teachers to use in their classroom to provide universal prevention to their students. This includes the F.R.I.E.N.D.S programs, Strong Kids programs, Social Skills training and Cooperative learning strategies. A teacher can also regulate the classroom environment by giving students opportunities and areas to use relaxation strategies and my forming strong relationships with the student and encouraging strong relationships between students.
