Introduction

Freedom from hunger or thirst is one of the five freedoms of animal welfare. This does not simply mean that they should have access to any food available, but be given the appropriate nutritive food to maintain health and strength.

To give our companions the necessary nutrients we must first understand what nutrition means.

After having background information on nutrition, we can applied it to assess the diet of our companions.

In order to understand which is suitable for our own canine, we will be discussing the benefits and implication of kibble diets, wet diets and raw diets.

We must also understand possible implications associated with consume too little or too much of a specific nutrient. A major implication seen in a majority of dogs in our society today would be obesity.

And end off with some recommendations from me.
