UKRN 125: Basic Ukrainian | Sample Syllabus
Terms 1 AND 2 | in-person | Tues/Thurs 14:00 – 15:30 | 6 credits
Taught in an inspiring, joyful, and supportive way by an expert from Eastern Ukraine, this in-person, 6-credit course gives you what you need to understand, speak, write, and read beginning Ukrainian. Are you interested in how Ukrainian is different from Russian and other Slavic languages, and how Ukrainian has been suppressed by a series of Russian governments? Come learn Ukrainian and help support the Ukrainian-speaking community of the Lower Mainland.
UKRN 225: Advanced Ukrainian
Terms 1 AND 2 | in-person | Tues/Thur 14:00 – 15:30 | 6 credits
Do you have a connection to the Ukrainian nation? Curious to know about Ukrainian language and culture? Want to stand with Ukraine in the struggle for its sovereignty and the peaceful democratic future of the world? It’s time to turn your dreams into reality! This 6-credit course will help you build confidence in communicating in a language which is quite different from Germanic and Romance languages as well as introduce you to the life of contemporary Ukraine, its rich culture and history. UKRN 225 is meant for students who have already completed UKRN 125 or its equivalent, or are intermediate speakers of the language.
