About Me

My name is Charlie Shi and I am a first year currently attending the Sauder School of Business at UBC. I have strong interest in marketing and  I am interested in learning more about entrepreneurship. My academic goal at Sauder is to expand my knowledge and to equip myself with the necessary tools to realize both my short term and long term goals.

UBC is not just a place to learn. It is a place to discover and invent things you never thought were possible. It is a place of growth and development. It is the landfill for your toys, and the tool shed your future. It’s the birthplace of innovation, and the nursing home of creativity. With the help of our teachers, our peers, and our parents, the school becomes a unified community. This community offers an environment for us to bring out the artist within each of us. It teaches us what we are capable of. It demonstrates that individuals are unique and qualified in their own, distinct fashion. And it shows us that we are not just consumers, but also producers in our civilization as a whole.

I believe my love for new challenges partnered with my enthusiasm and professionalism will allow me to shine in the world of Business. The University of British Columbia, offering one of the most prestigious commerce programs in Canada, immediately grabbed my attention. I am hoping to finish my post-secondary studies while gaining valuable work experience in the meantime. My goal is to graduate with a double option in management and marketing and later learn the specifics of commercial law.

Through my education and work experience, I am hoping to get into the technological spectrum of the mass media world and create a broadcasting network geared towards competitive e-sports. Eventually my goals are to establish a sustainable broadcasting company and bring competitive video gaming into the world stage.

I am prepared for a path of discovery and failure, through which I will come to realize my true source of contentment in life. Hardships, nevertheless, will undoubtedly cross my path but it is not in my nature to be hindered by its presence. And in my next years of study here at UBC, I will create bonds that last a lifetime. It will give me the tools and accessories I will require to build my own future. Similarly, the support from my friends, family, and coworkers will be the fuse that is necessary to propel me forward.
