Delivery Platform Evaluation

Reflection for Assignment #1: Online Delivery Platform Evaluation Rubric Assignment

The Online Delivery Platform Evaluation Rubric assignment included a scenario that outlined requirements of a stakeholder. The scenario was about UBC partnering with the provincial government to create distributed learning. A group of UBC MET graduate students have been tasked with creating a rubric that will assess various Learning Management Systems. The requirements of the Learning Management System included:

  • Student created videos must be able to be uploaded
  • Videos need to be revised and uploaded
  • The streaming of the videos needs to be smooth and consistent
  • Must be accessible from any location
  • Must be a strong system that supports learning, teaching, and a assortment of educational tools

The assignment gave a great outline to a problem that could happen in the “real world” and provided an opportunity to work in a group setting to develop a solution. My experience for the Online Delivery Platform Evaluation Rubric assignment was excellent because of the value of the learning. The learning included utilizing educational technology to establish a platform for the group to develop the rubric as well as how to create a rubric that would solve an education technology problem. Synchronous and Asynchronous techniques were used throughout the project. The group decided to use Google Docs and the Discussion Board as working spaces. All of the members signed online and participated in the building of the rubric in real time using Google Docs. The professionalism used by the group was outstanding. Everyone contributed to the design of the rubric and various sections of the assignment. The way the project was broken down gave all the team members an important role for the assignment.

My Take A Ways from the Online Delivery Platform Evaluation Rubric Assignment

  1. Applying the learning from the course to develop a “real-world” solution. The knowledge that I have gained from this course has helped me to develop a solution to a problem that I could encounter in the near future.
  2. The power of using both Synchronous and Asynchronous techniques. Both are effective and both are required to produce a positive learning experience.
  3. The positive teamwork experience. I learned a lot of information and knowledge from my peers during this assignment. It is nice to connect and network with other MET students.
