Last week in China there appeared a very big war between two large internet companies. One is tencent company which is the biggest Internet company in China. Its most famous is QQ which is an IM software just like MSN in North America. It has more than 0.6 billion users in China and we can say it’s the monopoly in this field. The other company is 360 company which focus on antivirus software. It came into being saveral years ago and it has been growing in a very fast speed because its antivirus software is completely free and because of this in several years it gathered about 0.2 billion users. But it is still a very small company compared to Tencent.
About several weeks ago 360 which is the antivirus software suddenly announced that QQ has been searching users’ private information for all the time secretly. And then QQ said the search is for users’ safety because in China there are a lot illegal QQ account stealers and with the private information it would be easy for QQ to retrive people’s account. And the war started at that time.
Because in China, the internet business is very competitive and in order to survive and grow you must learn how to market yourself. I think the reason that 360 dares to challenge the monopoly Tencent is because it want a big growth. But to open a war against Tencent is very dangerous and I’m still expecting the result of the war. But we can infer from this war that the internet business is very compatitive and it is important for you to market your product and your company. But you must use a good way to develop a marketing strategy. As long as you do enough marketing research, you’d succeed!
