About CHLA at SLAIS

Mission: “Bridging the gap between students and working professionals in health librarianship

In 2006, a group of students in the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies (SLAIS) that were interested in health librarianship started the CHLA/ABSC Student Interest Group (SIG). This student group organizes events for SLAIS students including library tours and guest panels. In 2007, the CHLA/ABSC SIG began posting its activities on the HLWIKI Canada wiki. In 2012, a blog was created to improve its ability to communicate to other SLAIS students through a new learning management system.

The Canadian Health Libraries Association / Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (CHLA/ABSC) is the professional association for hospital and health librarians in Canada. CHLA/ABSC was founded in 1976 and represents the views of Canadian health librarians to library associations, governments, health communities and fellow librarians.
