After 500 pages of readings and not to mention the 90 hours of lectures my Marketing teacher, I’ve realized one amazing thing about Marketing:
It is definitely not 100% profit driven.
At the end of the day, profits will still be the measure of the success of any Marketing implementation, but it is not necessarily the goal of Marketing as a whole.
“Social Marketing” is this idea which has forever changed my view in Marketing.
From one business’s supplier, employees, staff, marketing channels and basically every aspect of the supply chain, this idea of Social Marketing must be present at all times. Like any other chain, you’re only as strong as your weakest link, as I learned in Marketing class.
So what exactly is Social Marketing?
In a Nutshell, “The goal of social marketing is to build a long-term relationship between your organization and its different audiences.” (http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/rural/facts/92-097.htm).
In the cut-throat world of business, it is relief to know that there still those who aim to serve people rather than aim to simply drain people out of their money.
From what I’ve learned in Marketing class, Marketers should focus on building long-term relationships with every customer they encounter, and they should aim to satisfy these customers. In focusing on creating this relationship, a business will surely and most definitely thrive.
Focus on creating an image for your brand and make sure that every aspect of your business embodies that image.
Here is a “great compass” on social marketing:

My classmate and very good friend, Cristina Cuyegkeng, writes in her blog, Marketing for Marketing, about how our class has also changed her view on Marketing. She explains how through our class, her view of marketing as a solely profit-making means, is actually directed towards providing customers with what they want and need.
At the end of it all, there is only one thing I wish for you as a reader to take away from this, and that is there is hope for the business world today.
As always, Thanks for reading.
