The CLCL team conducts three to five research studies each year. Depending on the project, our research is done at children’s schools, at UBC, or at children’s homes.

Some of our current projects explore:

  • The relationship between children’s language and the problem solving strategies that they use
  • The role of children’s active or “working” memory for visual and verbal information in language learning and use
  • How children learn to use language to talk about their experiences and tell stories
  • The importance of language for problem solving and reasoning

For example, a recent research project is the Narrative SKILL project, which investigated how to best teach storytelling to children with ASD.
