Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Travis Barker Coming to Vancouver

Published by under Music,Vancouver

The only way this line up could be better is if Drake was tagging along with these cats. Alas, Vancouver, we’ll have to make do with hip hop’s biggest names and quite possibly one of the best and creative drummers of our generation.

Vancouver is the last date on Lil Wayne’s “I Am Music” tour and the show will obvz be at Rogers Arena. Last time, Lil Wayne couldn’t make it to the show in Van due to… issues… at the border. BUT third time’s a charm and hopefully customs will let him through this time.

Buy your tickets on February 4, 2011. Should be a great time. It’s BYOW.

Off the Map: A Change of Heart

Published by under TV

During the first two episodes, I slammed Off the Map and Shonda Rhimes for using Grey’s Anatomy‘s successful characters, re-writing them, placing them in a Third World country and calling it a different show. After watching tonight’s episode, however, I take back what I said. IN FACT, I may be inclined to opine that Shonda Rhimes purposely made her characters seem like Grey’s characters in order to trick and maybe even make fun of herself and us. Perhaps I’m reading too much into it and this idea never even came across her mind. But let’s analyze, shall we?

The Monet Argument

Published by under Dig It,TV

One of the best (and humorous) argument scenes I have ever watched on a TV show. Season 4 of The L Word is fucking hilarious. Mad props to Leisha Hailey and Mia Kirschner for ad libbing this scene. Fucking amazing.

Page Turner: Shake Hands With The Devil

Published by under Page Turners

Read it.

Even if you aren’t familiar with the Rwandan genocide or the events occurring in Africa, you should read this book. The themes don’t just have to do with the crisis. Major themes also discuss how one’s own guilt, regrets, and personal mindstate can be one’s biggest enemy and the failure of large international bodies and humanity.

It’s definitely sad and a lot of scenes are very graphic. But there are also very poignant quotes and thoughts and passages that really made me smile.

Definitely recommended.

The Day I Met Anna Torv, John Noble and Joshua Jackson…

So, I really should be studying, but I’ve decided that the only way to truly focus on a boring, lame textbook is to write it all out and get it off my chest.

It all started last night, when, walking to one of my classes, I noticed a Vista Cruiser and a Boston police car parked outside Buchanan Tower. Vista Cruiser, in my Fringe-manipulated mind automatically means Bishop-Mobile and I instinctively looked around to see if John Noble or Joshua Jackson were around. No such luck. I did, however, come across some pretty friendly crew members who told me that they were filming a stunt scene the next day and that Joshua, John, Anna Torv and Lance Reddick were supposed to be around. Sweet, I say. I’ll come back to campus on Friday when, by the way, I don’t have class, just to see if there’s a chance I can meet any of them.

I even stayed later than usual just to see if they would, by any chance, be driving back to their trailers at 7. But, alas, they weren’t back and I had to head home for dinner with my parents. I told myself that I would meet at least one of them tomorrow anyway…

Movie Websites

If you’re a big movie fan and you want to stay updated with trailers, photos, casting news, shooting notes and all that good stuff, these are the sites to check out.

www.slashfilm.com

www.ropeofsilicon.com

Been surfing these two sites for Dark Knight Rises all day today and I can’t seem to get enough of what they’re writing about. /Film also has an app that I, just hours ago, downloaded and have been constantly checking out.

icecreamisbetterwithafork.tumblr.com: Tristan Prettyman’s blog.

Who is Tristan Prettyman?! Well, she’s a recording artist who makes some pretty beautiful, chill music. Check her out. Her blog is fascinating and she posts a lot of photos, quotes, and designs that are really inspirational so I dig what she has to say.

Watch Never Let Me Go?

Published by under Dig It,Movies

I’ve been pretty fortunate, lately, to have been watching amazing and in-depth movies such as Black Swan and Never Let Me Go. This film is absolutely brilliant. I’m sure it’s not as thematic as the book is, but if you feel like a thinker or a movie that will make you feel and empathize with the characters, than this is definitely one to see.

Misfits = Crack

Published by under Dig It,TV

So I just finished watching the Series 2 Christmas special and it was a pretty awesome episode. I am absolutely obsessed with this show. I like everything about it from the characters to the writing to the special effects they use for various powers (The slight effects for Nikki’s teleporting power are pretty cool). The fact that each series is only 6 episodes does suck a lot, but more things happen in those 6 episodes than most 22-episode shows.
