How quickly humans progress and how technology has developed to accommodate the ever-increasing progress. It was only last week that we were creating printed letters using potatoes or writing stories by hand. This week, we are creating story games using HTML coding language to practice the concept of hypertext. Creating these hypertexts using Twine is what Bolters (2001) “observes as electronic writing that goes beyond print (p. 46).”

For the post for this week, I created hypertext that came to me from a conversation I had with my niece. She was asking me if she should go to the prom with her friend. With the hypertext, I used pros and cons to assist her in making a sensible decision. I was to organize the information I shared by editing, storing, and controlling how I would organize the information. As Bolter (2001) states, through technology, specifically, Twine provides one with the comfort that it can even link back to previous pages that have not yet been chosen following various storylines until one is satisfied with the outcome. Therefore, the design of my typed information is in a tree diagram which means that no single topic dominates each other.

Hyper texting my story game allowed me to rethink the way I write. I was not writing the information on a word document sheet; I told bits of a story that linked to other narratives to provided information to think about when it came to dating a friend. I had to plan and organize my information as Wesch (2007) demonstrates that writing can explore and change the way we think and our field of study.

This task made me think about how I provide case studies that are on word documents. What about using Twine for my case studies? Where I cannot only engage students but be able to edit, store, manipulate, and rearrange in ways that make keyboards obsolete “as this new text management system amplifies the craft of writing in novel ways” (Heim, 1987, p. 1-2).
