The Post-Anthropocentric and Critical Animals Studies Research Group [PACAS]
A network of activists, scholars, artists and writers who are invested in anti-speciesist and social justice research that advances human knowledge to improve nonhuman animal lives. Our research promotes the immediate and long-term societal changes needed to end our rapid killing of billions of nonhuman animals and the environment.
PACAS is self-critical, reflective and employs ideas from “critical theory” that are grounded in intersectionality. We ask, how does the moral status of other animals intersect with other social justice movements: gender, class, race, colonialism and ableism? Although our collaborative and interdisciplinary community is international, PACAS is affiliated with the University of British Columbia, Okanagan which is located on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Syilx people.
