The UBC EARLY ROMANCE STUDIES RESEARCH CLUSTER presents:
“THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE TURKS IN EARLY MODERN EUROPEAN LITERATURE”
A DEBATE between two specialists of early modern representations and conceptions of the Middle East in European texts, Professors Margaret Meserve and Marcus Keller.
Short presentations by each of the two guest speakers will be followed by a debate between them, based in part on questions provided ahead of time by members of the research cluster, then by a general discussion involving the audience. We welcome your participation.
Here are the topics which each of the speakers will address before debating:
