Thank you for being flexible to the change of dictation date. The original dictation was postponed to Nov. 26 next week. Please refer to the Sixth Post for dictation list and practice sheet. The radicals are about nature, such as 日sun, 月moon, 水water, 火fire.
2. Last dictation This Term: Dec. 10 (planned)
The students have started to learn the last radical set of this term. This set is about plants and animals, such as 木wood , 禾crop, 鱼fish, 羊sheep, 犬dog,犭animals.
List:radical sets 2-animals and plants
Practice sheet: worksheet-牛羊 worksheet-鱼鸟 worksheet-木禾米 worksheet-草竹食
So far they have learned four radicals sets, 64 radicals in total. Please give them a pat on their back. Good job:) !
To help students review all radicals they have learned, we will use a different form to do the last dictation this term. All radicals and meaning they have learned will be given in a wrong order. Students need to match radicals with correct meaning.
Dictation date: Dec. 10(planned)
3. Three-part Syllables Pinyin Dictation
We have learned the Pinyin of commonly used words with -ia, iao, -ian syllables. We did a lot of practice in class, not only reading and copying syllables, but also through Pinyin dictation. In Pinyin dictation, I say words with the syllables, students try to write the Pinyin for this word.
If you have time at home, you can practice the Pinyin dictation of -ian syllables with your child. you can play the audio posted in Sixth Post and your child try to write down the pinyin(not the characters). They can compare their answer with the correct pinyin.
Please note, for students who don’t speak Mandarin at home, they don’t have to write tone marks. Why? Because they don’t need to key in tone mark when they type Pinyin to get Chinese characters through computer in the future. For students who speak Mandarin at home, they are encouraged to write tone marks.
If you don’t have time at home, no worries. We did and will continue to do a lot of practice in class:).
