Hi everyone!

Welcome to my blog!

If you guys haven’t gotten it already, my name is Alan and I am currently a third year student majoring in the field of Psychology!

I am completely new to blog writing and running a blog so please bear with me as I get more comfortable writing posts and customizing and improving my page. I hope you guys enjoy whatever content I have to post in the future!

Perhaps like a few others in this class, I decided to take this course primarily to satisfy the literature requirement for my degree. HOWEVER!!! Among the array of different courses that is offered at UBC, I picked this one!

I chose to take this course largely due to my upbringing. I was born and raised in Richmond, B.C. and during my elementary school days, I was taught a lot of stuff that “defined” being Canadian (like being polite or the association between Canadians and beavers), and so, I was always proud to be Canadian and had a sense of patriotism, I guess? So when I stumbled upon this course, I was intrigued. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I wanted to give it a shot!

After having enrolled in this course and read the overview and such, I feel great knowing we will be touching upon a lot of the literature that defines the first nations and the history of Canada. The traditions of oral story telling that is used within many first nations community had always been something of interest to me. I had grown up reading first nations stories of animals such as killer whales or polar bears and knowing that this course will give me another chance to indulge myself with such fascinating literature is quite exciting to me.

However, I am worried because this course seems like there will be a lot of work (the required readings list is LONG), but I believe that I should be able to keep up and be able to share with you guys insightful commentary that will be interesting enough for you guys to keep following my blog!

I hope everyone had a good break and I hope we have a great start to the term!

Cheers everyone!
