Hello Phoebe,

Thank you for submitting your LinkedIn profile for review. Your profile looks complete and consists of detailed information. Following are some comments and suggestions for improving the profile.

First Impressions

First impressions of the profile page are very promising. The page looks clean, complete with relevant information in each section. Starting from the top of the page, the headline and about section are very informative, allowing recruiters and viewers to quickly get to know about you. The experience and education sections are also filled out accordingly and I greatly appreciate how the interests section is filled with university-major-related corporations so recruiters know what the interested field of employment is. Please note:

  • Using a custom URL for the profile instead of LinkedIn’s default numbers URL will make the page easier to search for

Profile Photo

The profile picture is quite personable, but:

  • Reducing the size of the picture so it doesn’t cut off the top of the head will improve the composition.

Title Box

The current title box looks good but it could be improved with the following points:

  • Consider removing “high school” from the phrase “high school science tutor” to suggest to the recruiters the ability to tutor more than just high-school students
  • Connect with more friends, family and/or co-workers so the title box will show more connections which strengthens the profile
  • Include more connection methods in the Contact Info so recruiters and viewers have more ways to reach out

Effectiveness of the Summary

The summary is very informative and covers education, employment status, and interests in detail. It also reflects a professional and highly-motivated individual looking to dive into the biology and computer science industry. Feel free to adopt the following recommendation:

  • Include a few activities of interest which will add a personalized touch to the summary
  • Include any keywords that fall into the field of interest, so LinkedIn connects you to more relevant contacts

Experience and Achievements

The four-year and going experience looks convincing and gives recruiters the idea of a hard-working and committed employee. Following these tips will improve this section:

  • Use numbers to strengthen the work content: instead of “returned to the student in a timely fashion”, try “returned to the student within a 72hour window” to showcase a time-efficient worker
  • Feel free to upload an example of a “personalized lesson plan” to support the tutor experience. This will give employers and viewers a better idea of the content that can be produced

Volunteer Experience

  • Feel free to include volunteer experience if any

Education and Courses

  • Feel free to list any past university courses which are relevant to the career goals mentioned in the profile, so it increases credibility

Skills

  • List as many skills as possible – the inclusion of keywords will allow the profile to surface to more relevant recruiters
  • Try to increase endorsements by endorsing others and asking others to endorse you

Connections

The connection element of this profile is what needs the most improvement on. Start connecting with friends, families, classmates, and co-workers to expand on the LinkedIn network. A well-developed connection will allow the profile to be discovered by more people.

Grammatical and Expression

Overall the writing looks fine with no noticeable grammatical errors. Though I would encourage this profile to showcase more interests, passions, downtime hobbies so it adds a more personalized touch.

Conclusion

Your profile page is off to a great start with a lot of promising details. I believe with some edits, this page can be perfected.

To summarize for you, here is a list of suggested edits:

  • Improving the profile photo
  • Editing title box relevant items
  • Adding a few sentences about your interests in the summary to highlight your personality and include a few keywords to relate closely to your field-of-interest
  • Use numbers and supporting documents to strengthen your experience section
  • Including volunteer activities, if possible
  • Listing courses that are relevant to your field-of-interest
  • List as many skills as possible with the inclusion of keywords and start increasing your endorsements
  • Increase your number of connections by connecting with friends, families, classmates and co-workers.

The profile page has been a fun read and I hope my recommendations are helpful. Please feel to let me know should you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you

Jessica Lee
