Email Memorandum

What follows is an example of an email memo from Jason. This memo is quite excellent in content: polite, clear, brief and detailed; however, there are issues with the form. Can you identify what is incorrect about this memo in terms of the expected formalities of a professional memo? Please post your answer in the comment box below. Thanks 🙂

Email Memorandum: Application To ENGL 301 Technical Writing Member Position

To Dr. Paterson,

I wanted to send a brief message to inform you that I’ve posted my application to the position of a professional writing team member as part of the English 301 Technical Writing class. I have attached my application to this email and will summarize the key points of the document below:

  • Life science undergraduate at UBC
  • Experience with powerpoints and reports, assisted manuscript and studentship drafting
  • Assisted in organization of Islet Society 2013 conference
  • Emphasis on enthusiasm in writing, slightly “wordy” style of writing
  • Prefer active learning in a group setting

If you require any points of clarification, please let me know at your next earliest convenience.

Best,
Jason Lee
