I have peer-reviewed your formal report proposal regarding the recycling inefficiencies at UBC’s downtown campus, which was very impressive overall. The topic of your report is very relevant to both our community and UBC’s values, as mentioned in your proposal. Your proposed questions of investigation are appropriate to gain a full insight into this problem and determine the feasibility of making changes to the current recycling strategies at UBC Robson Square. The overall proposal was strong and informative.

Organization:  The layout of your proposal followed the guidelines of the course textbook, Technical Communications.

Introduction: The introduction had a great flow, clearly stating the problem of how the current recycling strategy is inefficient, so it doesn’t amend to UBC’s culture and Strategic plan goals. There was sufficient background provided for the audience to understand why this issue needs to be addressed to maintain the environment.

Statement of Problem:  The reasons for the problem of lack of proper recycling are drawn out in detail which adds strength and clarity to your argument that it needs to be improved. I believe full quotations need to go around “what goes in where” in that paragraph. Asides from this, the content was great.

Proposed Solution:  Your proposed solutions are very practical and are in effect in many other facilities. In your last sentence, change “staffs” to staff as it is already plural, and consider adding a comma afterwards to avoid a run-on sentence. Other than that, your content was beyond satisfactory.

Scope:  Your choice of questions allow for valuable suggestions from those you will be interviewing. An additional question you may ask is that provided a better system to divide and recycle waste, what prevents people from still throwing everything into the garbage bin as opposed to taking the time to properly sort their waste?

Methods:  Your interview method is the most appropriate for your topic. I suggest also interviewing students and users of the space, as they are the main users of these bins to gain insight on their opinions and how it could be changed to make them follow the recycling system more closely.

Qualifications:  Your position as a Client Services Representative makes you very qualified to write this report and move to make changes that are in line wth UBC’s Strategic Plan.

Conclusion:  Brief but strong conclusion that wrapped everything up effectively. I believe you have provided sufficient cause to be approved and move forward with your project.

Concluding Comments:  Asides from a few minor grammar errors, your proposal was exemplary! Your introduction, statement of problem and solutions for very well written with strong points. I had almost no feedback to provide!
