Subject: Formal Report-Progress Report Memorandum

Audience

  • The intended audience of this report is workplaces and WorkSafe BC. WorkSafe BC is an organization that supports employers and employees to provide insurance and prevent injury, disease, and disability. Any strategies found in this report can be implemented as extra measures in COVID-19 prevention in the workplace. 

Purpose

  • The purpose of this report is to support workplaces in COVID-19 prevention and identify strategies that may not be as effective. With ongoing variants and strains of COVID-19, it is important to minimize the impacts and have a standard throughout the job industry.  

Significance 

  • The significance of this report is to limit the spread of infection and create a safe environment for employees. Preventative measures reduce contact with contaminated surfaces and can keep the disease in control. Furthermore, these measures can keep businesses open and reduce the number of closures due to breakouts. 

Research Plan

  • Identify current COVID-19 measures.
    • Are they effective?
    • What are not effective measures?
  • Survey companies and organizations on how many COVID-19 cases they have recorded. 
    • How many closures are due to COVID-19?
  • Compose interview questions to employees to gather their viewpoints on COVID-19 measures in their workspace. 
    • Measures they find adequate. 
    • Concerns regarding the safety plan or protocols regarding COVID-19 in their workplace.
  • Use secondary data through online research for reports and analysis regarding effective COVID-19 protocols. 
  • Compare and contrast the information given by employers and employees, 
    • Are workplaces in alignment with WorkSafe BC and the Provincial Health Authority? 
    • Are there more strategies that can be implemented? 

Writing Schedule

  • March 20th- Survey companies and institutions (five different workplaces in various districts) 
  • March 22nd-23rd- Conduct interviews with employers and employees
  • March 24th- Summarize findings into a report
  • March 25th- Form final draft of the report 
  • March 26th- Submit the revised formal report
