Reflection

I had the opportunity to facilitate this workshop for three different groups of learners, and although it was successful each time I feel it improved with each delivery. The purpose of this workshop on a theoretical level was to assist learners in understanding what an artifact was, and to consider what artifacts might be appropriate to include in their e-Portfolios. From a technical standpoint the goal of this workshop was to impart an understanding of how to embed images, videos, documents and slidehshares using the WordPress platform.

In order to achieve the workshop’s theoretical objectives I presented a number of examples of teacher candidate’s artifacts and I presented Barett’s (2005) framework for reflection. I also brainstormed a list of artifacts that could be included in the e-Portfolio. In order to achieve the technical objectives I presented the teacher candidates with a number of examples of embeds. I then gave the learners the opportunity to constructively figure out how to embed artifacts and finally I spent 15 minutes with the participants at the end of the session describing the step-by-step recipes for embedding artifacts.
