HeinOnline System Issues – RESOLVED

Update: Thursday, Aug.14th
HeinOnline systems are now fully functioning.

Wednesday, Aug.13th
HeinOnline is still experiencing technical and server issues. Users accessing HeinOnline via Serials Solutions (UBC Library’s ejournals A-Z list) or other third parties may not be able to function at full capacity due to the third party redirecting back to the original server. Hein anticipates having these server problems resolved by the end of today

Haworth Press journals – slow to no access

Haworth Press is experiencing server difficulties and access to their journals is routinely unavailable due to time outs and slow loading pages. Taylor & Francis, the parent company is working to resolve the current problem, but we’ve been advised that the situation will not improve significantly until these journals are transitioned to the Informaworld platform in early 2009.

Please send concerns, comments etc. to eResources Help.

EBSCOhost 2.0 – now LIVE!

Our EBSCO databases all have a new look and feel with the launch of the 2.0 interface today.
Be sure to check them out and tell the EBSCO Interface Working Group what you think!

The Library’s existing default settings and preferences have been migrated to the new platform. Changes are now possible in the administrative module and will be considered following consultation with library staff and users. Details on the enhancements and features, as well as training tools can be found on the EBSCO support site. Are we ready for relevancy ranked search results?

Note: a couple of the quick wins with EBSCOhost 2.0 is the ability to hover over the abstract for a quick view and easier bookmarking (persistent URL) tools.

Blackwell content – Gone again…. – RESTORED

Update: 11:40am

Fortunately, the outage was short-lived. We should be back on-track.

——

Aaargh! Well it was nice while it lasted!

Access to our Blackwell content went down again. It’s been reported to Wiley and I’m hopeful this this is a just a temporary outage. Stay tuned for an update.

Many of you have discovered titles that didn’t get restored. Please remember to check the missing content list. And there are always exceptions, so please don’t hesitate to send questions to eResources Help

Also, if you are being denied access, you can submit a request to InterLibrary Loans – during these transitory times, that might be the fastest way to get articles that are needed urgently.

Access to Blackwell journal content on Wiley InterScience – RESTORED!

Good news!
Access to most of our subscribed Blackwell journals has finally been restored on Wiley InterScience.

Article-level linking (through Citation Linker, Google Scholar, PubMed etc.) is still unavailable, however Wiley is anticipating these services will be activated by the end of the week. The publisher has also made progress on migrating some of the content missed during the original integration. For the list of content still to be moved to Wiley InterScience see here.

Please report any continuing access problems to eResources Help.
