Greetings from the UAE
Hi everyone!
It is great to be back and I am looking forward to this course!
I am an EFL teacher at a men’s college in the UAE. I am originally from Edmonton but grew up in the Lower Mainland and visit home every summer.
I am taking this course along with ETEC 590. If I can survive both, I will be done the MET in 13 weeks, which is very exciting!
There are many opportunities out there for us to gain (financially and/or professionally) with e-learning ventures, especially for those working in language teaching and learning. I think this course will create a solid foundation for moving forward with our entrepreneurial goals and ideas.
I am looking forward to learning and sharing ideas with all of you!

Hello Danielle,
It must be very exciting for you to be almost finished with the MET program. I’m very interested in hearing about your teaching in the United Arab Emirates.

Hi Donna,
Yes, it is exciting! I have already started thinking about what to study next! Teaching in the UAE is fabulous. It is one of the nicest places to live and work – always sunny!

The UAE – how exciting! I worked in language instruction for quite a few years and yes, it is still a huge market with lots of opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Hi Chris,
Great to hear that we can share ideas about language teaching! It is a huge market indeed which is great for us but I sometimes feel sorry for learners – it can get rather expensive!
Looking forward to learning more from you!

Hey there Danielle,
Looks like we meet again – but it seems for the very last time (at least in the MET). I am so excited for you (and a little jealous) that you are almost done – congratulations.
Maybe THIS time we will be able to work together on something 🙂

Hi Helen!
Nice to see you again! How is the mind mapping going? I recall you made a pretty spectacular map for ETEC 512! It will be great to work together again!

Still enjoying it immensely. Looking at pulling together a presentation for the ECOO (Educational Computing Org. of Ont) conference in the fall – “Minds On -Mind Mapping”. Also just signed up for an educator account with Lucidchart to see what can be done with ‘cloud mapping’ options.

Hi Danielle,
Indeed it is nice to have another language teacher to share experiences with over the term. Teaching in Dubai sounds like a pretty exciting learning and teaching adventure . . . I’d love to hear more about it sometime.
