Hello Everyone!
Hi everyone, my name is Shawn Harris. I am from the beautiful Island of Jamaica but I currently live and work in the country of Turks and Caicos for the past three years. It also has beautiful islands. I have been a teacher for over thirteen years. I teach at the primary level Computer Studies and I also teach adults Introduction to computer for the various tasks in their work places.
It goes without saying that at this point in my life, I can attest to the fact that learning truly involves collaboration and participation; ETEC 522 being my 6th MET course. I believe in student centered classroom/environment where learners are fully engaged in meaningful interactions.
I am extremely fond of using technology in the classroom because in my experience it has proven to be very engaging for all types of learners. The feedback I receive from the majority of my students when using technology seems to be tremendously positive. Students often describe using technology in the classroom as “a fun way to learn”.
I enjoy teaching and try to touch as many lives as possible with my method of teaching. I have learned a great deal from the MET program so far and I do hope to continue to garner and share much information as I proceed with this course. I sure look forward to working with my peers in collaborating and sharing our experience.

Best regards,
Shawn Harris

I wish I shared your enthusiasm re: that experience. However, somehow, I ended up with the highest grade I’ve ever received at this level, so what do I know? LOL

Hi Shawn,
I have never visited Jamaica or the Turks . . . it must be wonderful to teach there! I grew up in Barbados and still miss the surf and sand – sometimes I wonder why I ever moved away.
I look forward to working with you over the term.

It is great teaching here! I certainly cant deal with the snow…I visited Toronto in December 08 and that was my last visit. The experience was good but I prefer sun, sand and beach! Never been to the Bahamas, but I hear its lovely there too. All the best for this semester. Nice meeting you!

Hi Shawn.
I think we need to do set up a student exchange program… I can see myself doing this course from a hammock in Turks and Cacos. 🙂
Good luck with the courses.
