Hello from the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta

My name is Meipsy Shackleford and this will be my third ETEC class however, I am also taking ETEC 512 at the same time.

I am a Vice Principal/ Learning Support teacher in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass of Alberta with the Livingstone Range School Division.  I have taught overseas as well as in Northern Alberta (Fort McMurray). I have been teaching for eighteen years and have taught both primary, elementary and have also been a school administrator prior to relocating to the Crowsnest Pass.

My husband is also a teacher and we have two young children. Together my husband and I have taught overseas in Taiwan and have taken two different year long leaves to travel around the world, once before having kids and once with the kids.

I have always been interested in using educational technology and how it is utilised in the classroom. My views on online learning certainly have shifted over the past few months with the pandemic. I have gone from learning about educational technology and its effectiveness at a more of a casual rate, to suddenly being thrown into online learning at a much faster pace.

    Hi Meipsy,

It sounds like you have some awesome worldly experience to contribute to the education field. That is amazing that you were able to travel a year with two young kids.

I’m excited to work together on Assignment 2 🙂

    Hi Meipsy!

I see Crowsnet Pass and I realize that I have a neighbour in this course 🙂 I am in Fort Steele, 10 minutes outside of Cranbrook, B.C. It feels like that could be the neighbouring school district, if it wasn’t separated by a provincial line. I look forward to working with you this semester. I can absolutely relate to the complete shift from learning about technology to being viewed to be the expert for colleagues because of the MET program.
