Introduction – Esther Yang

Hello all,

My name is Esther Yang and I am a secondary mathematics teacher, working in Burnaby, British Columbia. I completed my bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Education at UBC. ETEC 523 is my fourth course in MET and I am very excited to be part of this course and looking forward to learning with you all.

This is one of many signs that I still see in math classrooms in our schools, even though mobile devices and technologies are now important components in education, especially due to the hybrid teaching/learning system since the COVID. My goal in ETEC 523 is to better understand and explore how mobile teaching and learning can be incorporated in both traditional and online learning environment and better support our students’ learning.

A little bit about myself… I have three beautiful daughters: Allison (7), Kaitlyn (5) and Sharon (1). We love camping, hiking, and exploring different parks in our neighborhood. Beside working and studying, they keep me and my partner on our toes for sure!
